The history of Casa Moscia

The several buildings of Casa Moscia were property of Pasta fabric “Pancaldi and Pisani” until 1929. Then, the impoverished countess Antoinette de St-Léger, took over the place. Because of her exists the famous Botanic Garden on the Brissago-Islands. In 1946, the Swiss citizen Lisel Moser bought the property with financial help of some evang.-ref. comunitites and had the houses transformed into a place for the evangelical youth. She wrote her very interesting self-biography “Rufen, nicht fürchten” “only available in german language” which is available in our library or can be bought at the price of CHF 10.--.

Since 1957, Casa Moscia is property of the christian movement “Vereinigte Bibelgruppen in Schule, Universität und Beruf (VBG). In Germany the partner organization is called “Studentenmission”SMD”. We are part of “International Fellowship for Evangelical Students IFES”.

You will find some more informations about “VBG” and its offers at the reception desk. At Casa Moscia a lot of people with various backgrounds meet each other: some for trainings, some are here to relax, to meet God and to meet other people.

Since 1964 “VBG” directs a second House in Ticino: it is called Campo Rasa. It is situated on a sunny high-place (900 m) in the Centovalli. Campo Rasa is only reached eather by a cable train from Verdasio or on foot. It is an oasis of silence in a typical Ticino-style village. Campo Rasa counts total 60 beds in 3 buildings.
