Our wild botanic garden

There is a rich and wild botanic garden surrounding Casa Moscia. Until 1957 on these terraces was cultivated the vegetable gardening. During the years, the vegetable garden has been transformed to an ornamental garden and a lot of plants have grown and became quite big. The unique position on the south slope of the Lake Maggiore enjoys a meridional climat. We are in the lowest and mildest zone of Switzerland. You’ll find Agaves, Palms, Bamboos, Eucalyptuses, Kiwis, Olives, Passionfruit, Lemontrees and al lot of other exotic plants in our garden. In the beginning of March Acacias, Camelias and “Magnolias” are in beautiful flowering-time.

Our gardener Emanuel Schätti has been taking care of the garden for 20 years with professionality, devotion and love. He likes to share his botanic experiences with interested people. For guided garden-visits please ask at the reception desk.
